DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1934 (EBL) STATION IS ON THE HIGHEST PART OF THE HIGHEST GROUND IN THE MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK. THE HILL IS WELL KNOWN LOCALLY AS PARK POINT. THE STATION IS IN THE APPROXIMATE POSITION OF THE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY STATION PARK POINT, AND IS MARKED BY A GEOLOGICAL SURVEY ALUMINUM TABLET. IT WAS LEARNED, AFTER THE STATION WAS ESTABLISHED THAT THE MARK HAD BEEN FOUND APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AWAY AND REPLACED IN THE APPROXIMATE POSITION ORIGINALLY OCCUPIED. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK SET IN CONCRETE IN A DEPRESSION IN A BOULDER. REFERENCE MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS WEDGED IN DRILL HOLES IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK. AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE BLOCK OR POST OF CONCRETE. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS NNE OF STATION. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS SSE OF STATION. REACHED FROM THE ENTRANCE TO THE PARK BY FOLLOWING THE MAIN, OILED ROAD 10.2 MILES TO JUNCTION WITH SCENIC ROAD, AT SIGNBOARD READING PARK POINT. GO ABOUT 1/4 MILE TO TURN AROUND IN ROAD, THEN FOLLOW TRAIL ABOUT 150 YARDS TO THE STATION. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK - 1.2 METERS.
