Rich and I recovered this reference mark as part of our recovery of PG0932, the JOHN BROWNS GRAVE tri-station. RM1 is in good condition and has been resurveyed as a GPS station. See PG0932 for details and photographs.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1975 2.5 MI S FROM LAKE PLACID. SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 73 FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 86 AND 73 IN LAKE PLACID FOR 1.5 MILES TO SIDE ROAD RIGHT, GO RIGHT, SOUTH ON JOHN BROWN ROAD FOR 0.6 MILE TO JOHN BROWN STATUE AND MARK, 129 NORTHEAST OF CENTER OF JOHN BROWNS STATUE AND 32 FEET NORTHEAST OF CENTER OF CIRCLE DRIVE.
